Don’t hesitate to discuss your concerns with your child’s physician. Doctors can refer children for additional testing or early intervention services. Louisiana offers the Early Steps program for infants and toddlers from Birth-3 years old. There are programs like this is most states. You can contact the program in your state and refer your own child. Early intervention is key! If you feel that your child may need additional testing, intervention, or services, I advise you to reach out for help sooner rather than later. I recently helped a family member locate services for their infant who was not meeting milestones as compared to his older sibling. Don’t be afraid or ashamed at all to ask for help or just talk to someone who might know more about what is going on.
