Most parents are very busy, but it is important stay involved with your child’s education no matter how old your child is.
There are many ways to stay involved. All parents can stay involved even though you may be working, trying to find a job, going to school, taking care of other children, etc. Here are just a couple of ways to stay involved:
- Most schools use apps to post grades and share announcements. Make sure that you have the app downloaded to your phone or tablet and use it to stay updated on your child’s education.
- Also, it’s important to make sure that your child’s school has your current telephone number to send important information via text message or voice message.
- You can communicate with most teachers via email and or text message these days. Most educators appreciate and encourage open lines of communication with involved parents.
- Make sure you have a calendar of school events and activities. You can add family events, appointments, test days, assignment due dates, extra-curricular activities, school holidays, vacation days, etc. I recommend that you post the calendar in a central location where everyone can see it and use it. The refrigerator would be an ideal location to display the calendar. Using a calendar can help families avoid conflicts and provide a visual reminder of school activities and important events.
The key is to make the most of your time and stay involved as much as possible in your child’s education. You may not think it’s possible, but it is possible.
